The Fratellis
The Fratellis are a three-piece rock band from Glasgow, Scotland. They formed in 2005, and consist of Jon Fratelli as main vocalist and guitarist, Mince Fratelli as drummer and backing vocalist, and Barry Fratelli, who plays the bass.
Much has been suspiced about their name. In a recent interview they stated they took the name The Fratellis because Fratelli is Barry's original surname, while the rest of the members took it as a pseudonym. It was suspiced that they got their name from the family of bad guys in the 1985 movie The Goonies. Fratellis means "brother" in Italian, so a connection can be made from this.
They played their first show on March 2005 and have since made their breakthrough year in 2006.
In April 2006 they released The Fratellis EP, which is now in limited availability.
Later that same year, in September, they released their successful debut album,
Costello Music. It charted high for weeks in the UK album charts and was voted
by Radio One listeners for the Brit Awards, winning Best British Breakthrough Act in 2007.
In October 2007, The Fratellis released their first DVD, named Edgy In Brixton.
In late November of the same year, it was confirmed in their website the production of a new album. The recording finished in January 2008. The album has been confirmed will be called Here We Stand and it's due release on June 9th, 2008. The first single off the album, Mistress Mabel, will be released on May 26th, 2008.
